Shotokan Karate

Shotokan Karate instruction is offered under affiliation with the Japan Karate Association (JKA), World Federation – America under the direction of Sensei Yasuaki Nagatomo.  Instruction is led by Matt Stephen (shodan) and Zac Atlas (shodan), although the club has a number of affiliated yudansha (black belt) members and instructors.

Instruction will include a traditional Shotokan Karate-do syllabus, focusing on three elements: kihon (fundamentals), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring). Classes are held each Saturday from 1:00-3:00pm; however, this schedule is expected to change as the membership grows.

Members of Aikido Chuseikan can participate in the Karate program for no additional fee.  Non-members can pay daily visitor fees, or join the Aikido Chuseikan as a Supporting Member or full Adult Member. Rank testing is held regularly, three times a year.
